The National Environment Agency (NEA) together with other agencies like the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) developed the Clean Mark Accreditation Scheme. It was launched on July 21, 2010. It was formerly known as the Voluntary Accreditation Scheme. The scheme identifies companies that carry out high standards when it comes to cleaning. Accreditation Criteria

There are additions in (a) productivity (b) better employment standards and (c) PWM (Progressive Wage Model) accreditation criteria. In the case of productivity, accredited companies are obligated to hire Productivity Manager. In the better employment standards accreditation criteria, there is a clause added. Under this, accredited companies are tasked to obtain bizSAFE level 1 and level 3 for Clean Mark Silver and Gold accreditation. In the PWM, accredited companies are compelled to pay their cleaners wages as recommended by the TCC (Tripartite Cluster for Cleaners).
